Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a holistic therapeutic approach rooted in a profound understanding of the body's natural rhythms and healing mechanisms. Discovered by William G Sutherland, an Osteopath, CST revolves around a state of presence attuned to the expression of primary respiration in tissues and fluids throughout the body.

In the practice of Craniosacral Therapy, practitioners employ energetic resonance and gentle physical contact to read information from the body's primary respiration of the Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) and use this information to employ learned protocols that result in more optimal functioning and flow of body and energy or spirit. This physical contact helps unwind places and energy that may be stuck or stagnant; aids in offering more space into the body for improved circulation, release of tension and pain, and optimal functioning of all the bodily systems.

The body has innate wisdom to heal and self-correct when offered the space and resource to do so, my aim is to empower you to your own self-healing, supporting better connection to self and a more balanced means of operation internally and in the world around you.

This holistic, gentle modality can guide you to your own healing from physical dis-ease; to find increased mobility; heal some neurological disfunction; as well as lending strength to heal through grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disorder, and feeling empowered and connected in your fullest expression of YOU.

Infant Craniosacral Therapy

The journey from womb into the world can be a bumpy ride for your baby. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a highly effective, extremely gentle approach to helping Baby, newborns and older, find more comfort in their little body. Using only a nickel’s weight of pressure, the Craniosacral Therapist applies soft touch (about the weight of a nickel) and movement in areas of the body to help relieve tensions and restrictions that could have been formed in utero, through the birthing process, from tumbles, or as a result of interventions during birth. Life gets moving pretty quickly even for our little ones and CST is a great way to help them find some ease and stillness. Craniosacral Therapy can help a wide array of symptoms and conditions such as:-

Tongue tie or trouble latching-

 Poor sleep-

 Reflux-

Colic -

Torticollis-

Plagiocephaly/Brachycephaly (flat spots on the head)-

Gas- Constipation-

Constant crying (no, this doesn’t have to be the norm)- Possible head traumas incurred - And so much more!

What are some results I can expect from CST?

Infant Craniosacral Therapy Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can help Baby with many challenges they may face. This healing modality works with the subtle systems of the body and can help your baby establish their neural pathways, a more balanced nervous system, and better structural alignment all promoting greater overall function for your baby throughout their lifetime.

What does a Craniosacral Session look like for my baby?

The initial intake session generally lasts about 90min to 2 hours to allow time for consultation and a hands-on session with your baby (baby can remain clothed). The Craniosacral Therapist will use trained hands-on protocols to gently assess the movement and the Craniosacral System of your baby as a guide to where there may be restrictions, stuck patterns, and interference within the body. From this assessment, the Craniosacral Therapist can apply techniques to help your baby find calm, ease, and greater functioning. Each follow-up session can be expected to last about an hour. This therapy can be done on the massage table, in the therapist’s lap with props, while baby is feeding or sleeping in parent’s/guardian’s arms. We can be flexible here!

*Baby may be a little extra fussy or even extra sleepy for up to 48 hours after a CST session as their body integrates the work. How often should my baby be treated with CST? Baby’s first CST session can be as soon as baby is deemed healthy and cleared to go home by your healthcare provider. Each baby is unique and this is really a case-by-case basis but weekly or bi-weekly sessions are most often recommended for the first 2 months after the initial intake session. Thereafter, the Craniosacral Therapist can reassess and recommend sessions as needed — the intention is that your baby will reach optimal functioning and won’t need the consistent sessions for long.
